Herbal Mutual Aid at Bounty & Soul
In the months following Hurricane Helene, the Appalachian Herb Collective partnered with Bounty & Soul to bring free herbal care directly into their Swannanoa community market. Herbalists and a naturopathic doctor joined the weekly market at Beacon Village, offering free herbal medicine, nutritional supplements, wellness support, and bilingual services to community members navigating the aftermath of the storm. This collaboration allowed us to bring herbal care into a space where people were already gathering for food, resources, and community—and became another example of how herbal mutual aid can work alongside existing community organizations rather than creating entirely separate systems of care.
Our Herbal Clinic Has Ended — Bounty & Soul Continues
Their ongoing work provides free fresh produce and healthy foods, community markets, education, wellness programming, and other resources that strengthen food access and community resilience. We are grateful to Bounty & Soul for welcoming herbal mutual aid into their space during the Hurricane Helene response and for the tremendous work they continue to do in our community. If you are looking for current food-access programs, community markets, classes, volunteer opportunities, or ways to support their work, please connect directly with Bounty & Soul.
